Black Friday – Lead Designer
Co-led the design and development and oversaw vision from early prototyping to final polish. . Designed and balanced core mechanics, rule systems, and in-game economy. Managed documentation, coordinated production milestones, and supported team collaboration through iteration and playtesting.
Black Friday is a fast-paced, team-based board game set in the chaos of a shopping mall, where two asymmetrical teams face off in a battle of strategy and sabotage. One player takes on the role of the Mall Master, while 2–5 others become Thieves racing to complete their shopping lists. Players must buy, sell, steal, and duel their way through the mall while navigating unpredictable twists and escalating tension.
The Mall Master uses their authority to arrest Thieves and block their progress, creating constant pressure through smart positioning and timing. Meanwhile, the Thieves must cooperate, negotiate, and occasionally betray one another to stay ahead. The result is a PG-rated game filled with humor, risk, and dynamic player interaction, designed to appeal to a broad audience and keep each round fresh and unpredictable.
Originally developed by a team of four and expanded to seven during production, Black Friday was built through extensive iteration and playtesting. I served as one of two Lead Designers, helping shape the game’s mechanics, economy, and overall experience while coordinating development and refining gameplay through each phase.
